From Zschopau to Milwaukee

Special exhibition starting at January, the 20th, 2012

"Rise and fall of the bike industry in Middle Germany"

or

"How a small motor bike conquered the world"

The development of the fabrication sites Zschopau, Suhl and Eisenach, which became the large centers of the bike industry of the GDR.

In words and pictures you can follow the fact, how a small manufacturer became the world largest factory of motor bikes in Zschopau.

„With the RT125 around the world” shows impressively the history of this motor bike.

More then 5.000.000 times this bike was build, wether as original or as copy.Everywhere in the world this Motor bike was produced.

Even the short history in Eisenach is very interesting.

For example how the production manager prevented the production facility from being transported into the Soviet Union as reparation.

If we have awoken your interest please give us a visit.

Back to the childhood, back to the past

Who did not dream about going back to the time of childhood, or tells the children or grandchildren about the beautiful holiday times without mobile phone and computer.

At the area of the airport of Merseburg you can make this step over this time barrier. Many busy helpers let the past become reality with over 200.000 pieces of exhibits. Over the years the museum area became a real time machine, where you can find items out of all areas of the past decades. A time with no video games,no color TV, but with doll´s houses, wooden cars and tin locomotive.

Every day are our clubmates at work to renew items in stock for displaying them to our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren or to talk to friends about stories of „old lang syne“. Over the times more and more „old buddies“ came to our club to offer their know how to those who are instantly working at the museum.

In our era of internet especially their experience is very helpful to display all items professionally and to learn again old craftmanship.
