Aviation techniques

In our museum you can take a look onto 65 aircrafts as there is a Messerschmitt Me163 as original reproduction and a hang glider out of the GDR-Era. A small section is devoted to ballooning.

Military Airplanes

You can take a look on fighters of both great military blocks. We display the Soviet MIG´s as well as the Lockheed “Starfighter”.

Non Military Airplanes

On our outer premises we display the Iljushin IL8, the Tupolev TU134 and the Iljushin IL62 (which is not accessible inside).

Small Airplanes

All small airplanes are accessible in our large hangar.

Helicopters

In a small sector of the exhibition you can see parts of different helicopters, but also detailed models.

Ballooning

Another highlight in the section of aviation techniques is dedicated to ballooning. The basic principle of „lighter then air“ gives to this part of aviation a particular fascination because of the fact that balloonists are directly subjected to the physical power of nature. Just a notice: please avoid to talk about “Flying” in connection with this hobby. Balloons “Drive” ,this ist the difference on principle. In our ballooning section you will see the competitive successes of our founder Mr. Dieter Schoenau.

Flight Physician

In the surgery of our flight doctor, you can marvel at the instruments and devices of a flight medic of the 60th.

Flight Models

We display airworthy models and experimental flight models which were constructed for preparation for the insertion of new airplanes or upgrading airplanes which were currently in service.

Airplane Engines

Beneath a great amount of inline engines and radial engines out of military fighters and civil airplanes we also display the history of the recovery of a Messerschmitt Me 109 including engine in the last days of the WW2.

Military airplane models

Probabely there is no other area of models, which is presented as voluminous as the military airplane technology. In our rooms you can marvel at a great amount of models of military airplanes out of many countries, for example out of Japan, Europe and the United States of America.
