The history of development of motor bikes in the GDR after the war is shown by examples of a bicycle with auxiliary combustion engine up to a motor bike equipped with a Trabant car motor.
Not only to protect their good from the intervention of the German army the people tried to hide their vehicles, but also from the intervention of the allied forces. Depending of the size of the vehicle those got to be digged into the ground or hided in barns behind large amounts of straw or other farming machines and a lot of rubbish. Many of those vehicles are found again just decades after the war. Some of those you can see in our exhibition.
